Unboxing of Amazfit BIP U

Amazfit has recently launched a new BIP watch to replace the aging Amazfit BIP Lite and BIP. I am one of the early adopters who went and bought one. It's currently on my wrist and I must say I am pretty happy with my purchase. The only big difference from my Amazfit BIP (old watch) is that it's no longer has the "always on" display.

Amazfit BIP U comes with the watch, a user manual and a magnetic charger

You can clearly see the 2 charging pins

Upon switching on the screen, it'll have a QR code to ask you to download the app.

That's the another screen available (below linkage to Zepp app)

Amazfit BIP U launched in Malaysia

Smart watches and bands are surely something gaining traction in Malaysia. Amazfit (a sub-brand of Xiaomi) has finally launched an update to their successful product line-up in the cut-throat budget segment consumer market.

As I do not go for grey market imports products due to warranty issue, the below are the links to the 2 popular online shopping platform. I believed that this will be a good product to replace my aging 2 year-old BIP. Amazfit has added the function of SpO2 sensor and enhanced the bio-sensor (heart-rate PPG sensor which claims faster and more accurate heart-rate measurement) in this latest line up. However, the GPS built in function has been taken off (as this watch is not designed to be jungle-tracking proof or military design (unlike some other variants), I don't see why built-in GPS will do much use for the normal day-to-day user. Besides, we almost certainly have our phones with us when we do sports and the App can trigger the phone for the GPS function.

Alternatively, if you are in Malaysia and want to buy those Amazfit gadget via grey importers, Dasher is one of the famous and more reputable retailer out there. I have bought mine on 11/11, believed that if you're looking for one smart watch or band with a budget of <RM300, Amazfit BIP U might be the best value product right now.

I might do a review when I get the new BIP U. Stay tuned.
